Back to the Drawing Board

Finally managed to clear off my desk, and got my drafting table set up again. It's been nearly six months since the last time I drew anything. I think part of the reason might be because I didn't have the space set up for it, but that's not really a valid excuse. I should be able to draw in my sketchbook from pretty much anywhere. I just didn't do it.

I need to be making more of an effort to draw, to work on artwork regularly, and make an earnest attempt to do so on a daily basis. I've made it a goal for myself to draw at least a little bit every day. I'm not there yet, but I'm working on it. To help get my head back into this space, I've been watching art videos, looking through art books for reference and inspiration, and diving back into doing ink drawings with dip pens and brushes using India ink.

I still have a lot to learn when it comes to working with ink and dip pens. The medium still feels unfamiliar to me. I'm most experienced with using pencils to draw. Aside from being out of practice for so long, I think this is why the flow state still eludes me.

What kind of artist goes for so long without practicing their craft?
